Boracay Water Activities to Resume: It Must be Booked through Hotels

Water activities had been given a green light in Boracay. This will start later this week.


The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) announced the lifting of the ban on water sports in the island paradise of Boracay. The government prohibited all sports activities that required mechanized equipment while the DENR undertook marine diversity tests. Select water activities that use motorized equipment like jet skiing, and diving is set to resume on November 7, 2018. Island hopping tours meanwhile is scheduled to resume November 15 the agency reported.

However, these water activities should be booked through accredited hotels by the Department. This is to avoid shady characters like illegal commissioners and coordinators from victimizing tourists both local and foreign alike. This will also regulate these activities to prevent and mismanagement of marine resources.


Jet Ski

It can be remembered that this top tourist destination was recently closed for 6 months. President Rodrigo Duterte was once quoted as saying that the once paradise island has been grossly abused and has been turned into a cesspool. A more pristine and cleaner Boracay had greeted tourist and visitors when it had re-opened last October 26 this year. The Government vowed to prevent the previous disasters that happened in the island in the past, this time around,
